Selection of colourful pick and mix sweets

Pick n mix sweets have always been incredibly popular but it seems that confectionery has reached a new level of popularity over the past few years. It's worth remembering that the tradition of pick and mix sweets goes back well over a century.

Pick and mix confectionery was made famous by Woolworths, the UK's leading sweet store at the time. With the demise of Woolies, the UK thought that pick"n"mix was going to end and it was no longer going to be available.

Here’s our ultimate guide to the best pick and mix in town:

Pick & Mix Sweets

Sweets are the main attraction wherever they are sold. These venues include a car boot sale on a sunny Saturday where customers will flock from across the fields to find their favourite sweet, a wedding reception that has a candy buffet so that guests can enjoy their favourite sweets whilst enjoy a memorable day or even online from the comfort of your own sofa, knowing that your sweet tooth will soon be satisfied.

Only Kids Like Sweets

This is very untrue in our opinion! Pick n mix sweets are for all ages and for those born in the 60's and 70's, they are the main age group that revel in the nostalgia of the old-fashioned, penny sweets from yesteryear! Different generations will have a wide variety of sweets that they remember and use to but from the corner shops with their pocket money. You'll be surprised at what some people call their favourites, ours is bumper bananas here at Zap Sweets HQ. There's also a lot that people remember but are sadly no longer being produced in the todays market.

What You See Is What You Get

Pick and mix is a great way to entice customers into your store or to start a conversation. They can be displayed in a number of ways but the most popular way being in a traditional red sweet shop jar. Everyone knows the image that these portray and associate this with pick and candy. Seeing a large number of these jars all in line will be sure to bring back childhood memories. Customers will soon be reminiscing about dip dabs, sherbet fountains and sherbet pips.

As soon as you start to undo the lid on these sweetshop jars, you'll be hit with an instant smell of sweeties, a smell that is loved by everyone, all over the globe.

Jars, of course, can be reused. Once you have your display sorted, ordering a refill bag of sweets is an affordable way to continue to enjoy your favourite sweets.

Do They Still Weigh The Sweets?

Pick and mix sweets have also been popular but for health and safety reasons, as well as hygiene concerns, sweets are often now kept behind the counter in the sweet shop and when ordered, simply weighed on a set of scales and then transferred into a food safe bag that is sealed to ensure freshness and flavouring.

With such a large range of pick n mix sweets to choose from, we're confident that you'll be able to find your favourite sweet treat here at Zap Sweets.
